Looking Back on December 2025 — Liberty Hill Over The Hill Gang

Over The Hill Gang December birthday wishes went out to Dot, Jill, Angie, Mary, Lester and Dena. Our average attendance for the month was 46 members with over 155 meals served. We also welcomed Shirley, Mary, Gabby, Terri, and Megan as this month’s visitors.

The Over The Hill Gang celebrated and acknowledge Christmas on December 18th due to the facility being closed on Christmas Day. We celebrated by having a Ugly Sweater and/or Sweat Shirt contest. A large number of really unique sweat shirts, or sweaters were presented. However, Merle’s sweater was by far the ugliest sweater displayed. Congratulation to Merle! In addition, we also celebrated by having a White Elephant gift exchange. Members were encourage to bring a gift preferably less than $15.00 to exchange, or steal. Members were allowed to steal another member’s gift up to three times. It was a lot of fun and very interesting although it took much longer than anticipated.

In addition to all the activities, board members also provided our required bi-annual meeting to all members in attendance. Brief notes are as follows: The reading of the last Minutes. President’s Comments: Great year with over 3,375 meals served — Successful at serving a variety of food within our budget — Average attendance of approximately 55 members each week — Increase number of bingo players — Continued interest in Yak and Yarn, Women’s Bible Study, Canasta and the Tuesday and Thursday morning social events — The Treasurer’s Report was provided — Old Business: Old lease agreement with the city ended in October — New Business: Renewal of the new lease agreement — Proposed quarterly Ice Cream social — President’s closing comments: Acknowledge of Board Members: Merle, Charles, Mickie, Joy and Janet — Acknowledgment of all the helpers and of all the gang members.

Members celebrated a special Christmas holiday meal on December 18th. Members were encouraged to bring a covered dish for the luncheon. Turkey and Ham was provided this year with no expense to the group due to several generous donations.

Our routine monthly activities are as follows: The Yak and Yarn group continue to meet every other Tuesday (January 6 and 20), at 11:00 a.m. The morning social group meet every Tuesday and Thursday morning at 8:00 a.m. The Canasta Card group and the Women’s Bible study group meet every Wednesday at 10:00 and 11:00 a.m. as well as the evening Bible study at 6:00 p.m. Our weekly luncheon continues to meet every Thursday at 11:30 a.m. followed by a variety of games and fellowship.
