SIGN-IN SHEET Remember, If you are not on the sign in sheet, you stand zero chance of winning the door prize.
Women’s conference tonight at the cowboy church … 5 miles westward on 1869. At 6:30.
I had a doctor’s appointment this morning and not sure if I would be here today. So the rest of the board chipped in and shopped and prepared today’s meal. Thank you.
On a similar note, if any of the rest of you would be willing to assist with meal preparation, just let us know.
Oh yeah, the results of the doctor visit: the CT & bone scan were both clear of cancer. Good news that it hasn’t spread beeping the prostate. I will now begin treatments to eliminate the cancer.
Take home meals. Thank you to those who brought their own take-home containers.
If y’all have suitable containers (you know what I mean – margarine and cool whip tubs etc) that you can donate, we’ll try to keep those on hand for this purpose. Take them home and return them next time.

I’d like to see us do more for the area seniors and put this building to more use. Our in-house neighbors use the building from 8 to 2 Monday, (Tuesday), Wednesday, and Friday and I don’t want to inconvenience them either. So, any additional activities should be planned for after two o’clock. I’m asking for ideas.
Joke: If a cookie falls on the floor and you pick it up… that’s a squat, right?
Speaking of cookies, Ella was upset with me for turning the cookie upside down into the lid, which broke some of them. She sees them as cookie crumbs. I see them as breakfast cereal.
Prayer: Bless this senior center, Lord, and those who gather here. Let it be a place where we can meet to eat and love and laugh and pray. Amen.

CONTRACT: Yesterday I signed the contract with the city for the use of this building for another year.
I received assurances that we will not be restricted to only the days and hours shown in exhibit A.
It comes down to this: the city owns this building and we operate here at their pleasure.
We provide them with a valuable service to the area seniors and it costs them nothing but the utilities and upkeep of their building.
The first Tuesday of November and the first Tuesday of December. Pat will be leading us in crafts. November a Gnome Wreath. December painted rocks with a Christmas theme.?
Margie also had some craft ideas she would like to share. (2nd Tue. of Dec.) Watch for those announcements check our web pages www.overthehillganglhtx.com
This was mentioned last week and I’ll ask again. Do you crafters have a craft in which you would like to instruct us? Talk to one of the board members to be scheduled
By the way, you DO NOT have to drink coffee. Come for the fellowship and whatever else is going on.
Speaking of coffee. Since no one was drinking coffee this summer, we stopped making it. However, if you would like coffee, it only takes a few minutes to make.
FIRST FRIDAY POTLUCK AND GAME NIGHT is coming up Tomorrow October 7th from 7pm ’till 9ish.

Joke: Having heard my stories about the Good Old Days, my son asked me what was so great about those days. I answered with a sky grin, “Well, I suppose it has to be because, back then, I was neither Old nor Good!”
Prayer: Bless this senior center, Lord, and those who gather here. Let it be a place where we can meet to eat and love and laugh and pray. Amen.

This morning was fun. Me, Irma, Mickie, and Josie attended.
Irma made coffee, I made tea, but no donuts.
We all walked over to the thrift store and bought things. We talked about planning some trips together to visit resale stores in Georgetown to include other stores like Hobby Lobby, Michaels, and more.
A REGULAR SHOPPING SPREE!!
Maybe we could see how many members would be interested in doing something like that?
Hope to see y’all on Thursday, Merle

Ingredients
4 tablespoons olive oil
10 pounds lean ground beef
8 cups crushed Nacho Cheese Doritos
4 tablespoons chili powder
2 teaspoons garlic powder
2 teaspoons ground cumin
2 cans of refried beans
4 (14 fluid ounce) cans black beans drained & rinsed
4 (12 fluid ounce) can corn drained. 2 cups rice cooked
2 (48 ounce) jar salsa use your favorite kind
8 cups shredded Tex-Mex cheese blend (or use cheddar)
Instructions
• Preheat oven to 350F and move the rack to the middle position. Prep your ingredients.
• Add the oil and ground beef to a large skillet or pot. Cook, breaking up the meat as you go along, for 5 minutes over medium-high heat.
• Stir in the chili powder, garlic powder, and ground cumin, and continue cooking for another 5 minutes.
• Meanwhile, add the crushed Doritos in an even layer to the bottom of 2 large baking pans.
• Remove most of any excess fat from the meat.
• Stir into the meat: the refried beans, black beans, corn, salsa, and half the cheese. Let it warm through (until the cheese melts).
Spoon the beef mixture evenly over the Doritos.
Top the casserole with the remaining cheese. Bake, uncovered, for 15-20 minutes or until it’s warm and the cheese is nice and melty..
Serve casserole as-is or with your favorite toppings.
