A police officer on the scene shakes his head in disgust. I can’t believe you, he says. You’re so focused on your possessions that you didn’t even realize your left arm was torn off when the truck hit you.

The hedge fund manager looks down in absolute horror; Oh no, he cries My Rolex! How sad the police officer replies.

Thursday lunch 02/09/2023

+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-

Steaming hot baked potatoes with all the fixings, pinto beans with ham, pears, along with birthday cake and other desserts, that was what was for lunch. Always a fan favorite.
Working hard on the kitchen.
Getting everything prepared for lunch.
We had close to a full house …
well, we have two more rooms
(1 large & 1 small)
that I’d like to see full also.
Not much in the way of leftovers
and no one went away hungry.
That’s the way we like to see it
We had a guest speaker who talked to us about the future of Liberty Hill Independent School District. Our “little town” is close to become the largest city in Williamson county.
Though we ran a little long with the
speaker fielding the many questions
our members asked, we still had time
this afternoon for fun and games.

Thursday lunch and games, 01-26-2023

Before lunch Gary Spivey have us an audio visual with commentary about Liberty Hill’s past. I hope he had more for us.

This is just a few seconds of the 20 minute video he brought.
Everyone was very intent on the presentation.
Gary was glad to answer questions and provide extra background information.

Then it was time for lunch. We had a special treat today. Phill prepared and served a Lebanese lunch. It was enjoyed by all.

There were many wonderful desserts today. I don’t know exactly what was there. At least 3 pies, an apple cobbler, cookies, cake, ice cream, and I’m sure more that I can’t recall.

Games! There were games!

Bingo
Scrabble
Five Crowns card game
Those who chose to not play games, gathered in conversation
Merle just had to see what was behind that door in the ceiling. What she found was an attic full of ducts — not to be confused with ducks. 😁 She also discovered a quilters frame. Now, what can we do with that?

JOKE:.  Perfect Marriage?
A man and woman had been married for more than 60 years. They had shared everything. They had talked about everything. They had kept no secrets from each other, except that the little old woman had a shoe box in the top of her closet that she had cautioned her husband never to open or ask her about.

For all of these years, he had never thought about the box, but one day, the little old woman got very sick and the doctor said she would not recover.

In trying to sort out their affairs, the little old man took down the shoe box and took it to his wife’s bedside.

She agreed that it was time that he should know what was in the box. When he opened it, he found two crocheted dolls and a stack of money totaling $95,000.

He asked her about the contents. “When we were to be married,” she said, “my grandmother told me the secret of a happy marriage was to never argue. She told me that if I ever got angry with you, I should just keep quiet and crochet a doll.”

The little old man was so moved; he had to fight back tears. Only two precious dolls were in the box. She had only been angry with him two times in all those years of living and loving. He almost burst with happiness.

“Honey,” he said, “that explains the dolls, but what about all of this money? Where did it come from?”

“Oh,” she said. “That’s the money I made from selling the dolls.

PRAYER: by one of our members.
