Over The Hill Gang Liberty Hill, TX
Over The Hill Gang Self-funded Senior Center 3407 Ranch Road 1869 Liberty Hill Texas (behind Parker's Corner) Recreation, Socialization, and Education for seniors 50+.

There were six of us for coffee this morning and we discussed some exciting ways to celebrate the holidays coming up through the end of the year. It’s gonna be fun fun fun.

Games
Bingo, 5 Crowns, 42 Dominoes, and mahjong kept us entertained into mid afternoon.

What a wonderful success Tuesday September 06th morning coffee was. The rock painting was fun and well attended by 15 people.
One member, Mickie, suggested we have a PARTY! Just a good old-fashioned dress-up party! I think that’s a great idea. We could make a nice punch and have finger foods! What a great way to celebrate our re-opening. the board will get busy making it happen.

August 2nd was attended by Jannett and Merle. That’s it. Just them. It could be argued that it wasn’t a great start. However it provided an opportunity to clear out the shed and check on supplies. The slow start just means we need to advertise it better. To that end, the following advertisement was published on social media sites. On Tuesday the 9th Ella and I joined them for coffee. With four of the six board members present we had an unofficial board meeting with no minutes taken. We talked about games and ways to engage more people in Tuesday and possible other days of the week.

In August we added Odena J, Bev H., Marilyn G.
Along with the traditional first Thursday of the month fried chicken, and rolls, we added baked Mac and cheese, and corn on the cob. Even the traditional pinto beans was swapped out with ham and Navy beans on the 4th.
Thursday the 11th An old favorite King Ranch Chicken, was reintroduced on the 11th.
Thursday the 18th Lunch was Spaghetti with meat sauce, garlic bread, cucumber/cherry tomato salad, and fruit
25 THURSDAY the 25th
Lunch and was Meatloaf, deviled eggs, green beans, mandrin oranges with bananas, and of course pinto beans
In August we started some new after lunch games. Dominos, Scrabble and BINGO seem to be big hits. The games at FIRST FRIDAY POTLUCK AND GAME NIGHT included the card game 5 Crowns and the board game Fast Track. The club purchased bunco and mahjong games also … now if we can just learn how to play them.

Hat Day on the 11th, Shirt Day on the 18th, and Bring a Friend Eat Free Day on 25th.

Free Friends Day

Try to remember the kind of September
When life was slow and oh, so mellow
Try to remember the kind of September
When grass was green and grain was yellow
Try to remember the kind of September
When you were a tender and callow fellow
Try to remember and if you remember
Then follow, follow
Try to remember when life was so tender
That no one wept except the willow
Try to remember the kind of September
When love was an ember about to billow
Try to remember and if you remember
Then follow, follow*

On September 1st, 26 members enjoyed a chicken dinner, lots of games, and great conversations. Fun was had by all. We look forward to seeing you next Thursday by 11:30am.
Speaking of remembering … Remember that the first Friday of every month is our POTLUCK AND GAME NIGHT starting at 7:00pm.
Today went just great, we all pulled together and made it happen. The food was delicious, there were lots of desserts, everyone worked together and cooked and cleaned up. Tom and Ella, don’t think this means we don’t need y’all! Hope you two are having a good time! We miss you!
I was surprised to see Mr. Hanley. He is a member from waaaaaaaaay back! I didn’t even think to get the name of the lady who brought him. His daughter, maybe? I will find out next time and see if she wants to sign on as a member. This one got by me, sorry.
We will get together sometime before next Thursday and plan on the lunch menu and who is going to do what, ok?
Y’all are the BEST ever and always,
Hope to see you at Potluck tomorrow evening, 7:00 pm.

ANNOUNCEMENTS
Ella and I will be leaving for Iowa today and will miss the next couple of Thursdays
Help is ALWAYS APPRECIATED.
Did you bring you Bring a Friend?
Ella and I did not bring a friend because we are leaving after lunch and heading toward Iowa. Had we brought a friend we would have had to leave them here. 😁
Joke:. Two multimillionaire friends met up for lunch and started chatting.
“So how’s your home life?” asks the first multimillionaire.
“Couldn’t be better,” replies the second multimillionaire. “I bought an elephant!”
“An elephant? Are you crazy?”
“It’s the best purchase I ever made! He grazes the lawn and makes it nice and even. The kids love to ride him and slide down his trunk, so now they are playing outside and being kids instead of just watching TV all day. My wife loves him too. He’s very strong and helps her move things when I’m not around. Honestly, I can’t think of a better pet.”
The first multimillionaire thinks for a moment. “That’s actually kind of amazing. How much did you pay for him?”
“Five hundred thousand dollars. What a bargain, huh?”
“Can I buy him for one million dollars?”
“What?! I can’t sell him. He’s part of my family now!”
“Okay. Two million?”
“You can’t put a price on something so useful!”
“Three million?”
“Fine. I’ll sell him for three million dollars, but only because you’re my friend.”
A few months later, the multimillionaires meet again. The first multimillionaire is raging.
“The elephant may have been useful to you, but he’s a burden to me. He may have grazed your lawn, but he ate all my trees and left dung all over my lawn. The kids are terrified of that huge, noisy, aggressive thing. My wife and I haven’t had a good night’s sleep in months because the elephant keeps us awake. It’s the worst purchase I ever made!”
“I don’t know what to say,” says the second multimillionaire. “But with that attitude, you’ll never be able to sell him
